On a variety of blogs and Facebook, there’s a challenge going around to post something we are grateful for every day until Thanksgiving. For me, giving gratitude is not just for this time of the year, but for all-year long. I like making journals, but I especially like gratitude journals. This year I thought I’d share my artwork in case you’d like to make your own, or even make several for friends as gifts.

With my trusty Zutter Bind-It-All (love those gadgets!) I could have made this booklet from scratch, but decided that it was easier and faster to buy a $1 journal at Michaels.
I covered the front and back covers with DCWV Pocket Full Of Posies paper, printed out the quote and the label on cardstock, cut them with Spellbinder dies, and inked the edges. I also grabbed a piece of velvet ribbon from my ribbon bin and stuck it under the label. I’ve included the artwork in black in case you don’t want to use my color scheme.
For more information on journaling and gratitude journals, see my sister site, Heartwriting.
I’m excited and all ready to start my gratitude journal on January 1. Will you join me in keeping a gratitude journal this year?

I like the idea of a daily gratitude journal, although I frequently use my blog to record things I’m grateful for at any given time. Such as my washing machine when my son was sick recently late at night!
Ruth, Thanks for your comment. You are right! Our blogs are a great place to record our gratitude too!
Thanks for stopping by.
Years ago i was turned on to Sarah Ban Breathneck’s Simple Abundance and she was the first person I remember who used this idea of the gratitude journal. I have incorporated this thinking into my daily life and it has changed me. I make myself do this every day (when i remember) and it is life-changing experience.
Thanks for your lovely column and creative spirit.
Amy,
Thanks for your comment. Yes, Sarah seemed to be the first person to do that. It is amazing that when you do it every day, whether you write it down or not, it sure changes your outlook.
Thanks again for visiting.
Hi there! Love your blog site! Keep up the good work. I think it is good to think of the simple things in Life we tend to forget. Those little things that most often go unoticed. If we slow down a little, the world is a much nicer place. I enjoy nature and plants so much. This summer was bad because of the pesky little mosquitos. I still watched my little secret garden out of my window and enjoyed it so much. It changes every year and I love planting new things just to see how they look. I am grateful every day. Journaling it just points out how much it can mean to write it down. Keep up the good work! Katey in Iowa
