Can I use a 8 cup glass Pyrex mixing/measuring bowl to mix the lye water solution? I’m concerned about using plastic. The glass bowl will not be used for anything else.
Darlene, The only thing about glass – make sure you use new glass and glass that can handle high temps. Glass has been known to shatter because of the high temp the lye mixture can get to. We changed to plastic rubbermaid pitchers after hearing about that.
My soap did not harden after 24 hours. What should i do? (Followed instructions and weighed everything and have been making soap for quite a while but first time w 7% superfat.) Any advice? Tysm
Mollena, Sorry for the late reply. It’s been a couple years now since I made soap but 7% is too high which will make it not harden. You shouldn’t go over 5%. Again, sorry it took me so long to respond but it’s been a busy time!
Newbie at making soap. Want to learn more.
