Six Favorite Things 2023

Every year I like to highlight my five favorite things I use in my studio. This year I had to include six! There are links to the products on the product headings. These are not affiliate links.

Pink Power Electric Scissors

First of my favorite things is my new Pink Power electric scissors. I bought these recently to make cutting through denim easier. These were recommended by a denim group on Facebook. OMG! They cut through the denim like butter!! I would not recommend them to cut out the exact pattern, but just fussy cutting and deconstructing the jeans. It really makes quick work of those tasks.

I also would recommend spending a few more bucks and buying the case to keep it in with the other blade and the recharger.

Machingers Quilting Support Gloves

I bought these back in 2014 and always reach for them when I free motion. I’ve tried other types of gloves but I always go back to these.

Dayight Wafer light box 9 x 12

I owned an old light box years ago that had florescent tubes that I used it in my art business. It was clunky and heavy and when I saw these boxes I had to have one. They’re a bit pricey, but well worth it. It’s always closeby so I can grab it quick and then put it away.

Derwent Intense pencils

Several years ago I bought these to use on paper, but they work great on fabric too. I love how they blend on fabric. Just color the fabric.

Then add water and watch the magic. If you’ve never tried these, or haven’t tried these on fabric, they are awesome!

Cricut EasyPress 2 (12 x 10 inch)

I bought this back in 2019 when I was making purses. Over the years I’ve used it whenever I need to iron a large piece of fabric. However, it is called a Heat Press, so it’s great when making those projects that you are using large pieces of fabric and stabilizers. It really helps to fuse the stabilizers to the fabric. I will tell you that it is pretty heavy which may be one of the few negatives. However, you can buy a smaller one. I’ve been working on totes and it does such a great job and fast!

Kai Scissors 5100 B

These are the 4-inch blunt handled with slightly blunted tips. I’ve used the straight ones, but these are the ones I always reach for.

Meanwhile I’m working on a couple totes and some ornaments – one special for our Christmas tradition of exchanging homemade ornaments.ย  Also, for the third year we put out snacks starting the first of December for delivery drivers. We leave the box out for them through the new year.

What are your favorite tools in your studio? I’d love to hear from you.
