Hanging Art

I have several art quilts that I have entered in shows that are sitting in the closet. I needed that space, but also thought it would be nice to be able to see them. They all have sleeves. I researched how to hang them and decided on this solution.

I bought some dowels. They were a bit long so Dave cut them down for me. He added those screw eyes on the ends. So here is how they look on the pieces. Usually the sleeves are one piece, but this particular show required them to be two pieces. The screw eyes hang just out of the sleeve and behind the quilt.

Then I hammered two nails that the screw eyes would hang on.

And here are the finished pieces on the wall. Love being able to see this work and get it off my shelves!!

Meanwhile, the iris parade has started. I always do a post with pictures of all of the irises at the end of the season, but thought I’d give you a peek at what is showing up now.

Cherry Garden, which is a dwarf iris, was given to me awhile back and I’ve not seen it since 2015.

I bought this Blue Flirt in 2022 from Schreiners, and this is the first year for it to bloom. She was worth the wait.

An old standby, Protocol, also appeared down in the new iris bed I put in last year.

Talking about the new iris bed, which is down by the old shed, I finally got it cleaned up this week. I added my Becky daisies on each end. I think they’ll love it down there.

Lastly, the very first iris to bloom was Riveting. She’s also a dwarf iris.

I’ve been spending a lot of time in the garden, and not much inside. There is something about being outside with the birds and the plants and digging in the dirt that makes my heart happy. Hope you are having a wonderful week.
