CONGRATULATIONS TO BRENDA #1 – GIVEAWAY CLOSED
I was recently sent this just-released book by Interweave to review. I’m giving it away to one lucky reader. Read on about the giveaway.

The subtitle for this book “Inspired Designs for Crocheted Edgings and Trims” accurately describes this book. The Beaded Edge by Midori Nishida and the CRK design group include patterns and ideas for 18 beaded trims from delicate and classic to modern and bold. These trims can be used to update and embellish bags, scarves, tops, sweaters, and jeans. They are can be used to decorate ornaments, hats, necklaces, and more.
The book opens with the first 39 pages of the 18 designs with beautiful pictures of the finished design and great close-up shots of some of the steps to complete them. The next set of pages called the Remake Idea Collection include edging on scarves and wedding items, wine charms (that could double as earrings!) decorated boxes, Christmas items, and more.
There are several pages about material and tools which includes the different types of beads and instruction on how to choose for the specific project, information on yarn, thread, and needles. The last 28 pages are detailed directions of the projects with illustrations and some color pictures.
The book is absolutely beautiful. If you are at all interested in adding crocheted edges to your clothing, love to crochet or would like to learn how to crochet with beads, this is the book for you. The directions have clear, step-by step instructions with illustrations.
The only thing I did not like about this book is that the directions are in the back of the book. They used a two-page spread for each design which is beautiful, but then the reader has to turn to the back of the book to find out how to make the item. Personally, I would like to have the directions on the opposite page of the item so I can work from the instructions and still see the design. If I were to work from this book, I would make copies of the directions.
I am giving this copy to one lucky visitor to my blog. All you have to do is post a comment on this blog post making sure it lists your email address. Due to postage cost I need to restrict this to US and Canada residents. 🙁 The deadline for this giveaway is Friday, January 14 at 8 am CST. Good Luck!
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher for review purposes. The opinions expressed here are 100% my own. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review and received no monetary compensation.

This book looks great. Woodthrush@hotmail.com
It’s me!!!! These trims are adorable! But I probably would never do them…so you can leave me out of the drawing and give the book to someone who really wants it. I’ll be at a quilt retreat in Newburgh all weekend…hey, that’s your neck of the woods! Village Mercantile from Boonville puts it on.
The book looks amazing. My favorite art medium is to work with beads, but I’ve just started crocheting again after something like 3 decades. How fun to combine them both.

Hi Lynda, Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting on the gourds and jade plants. I am enjoying your blog – my first visit. It’s always fun meeting like minded people. Your bead work is lovely. I do a little of that but am a total novice at it.
I would love a chance to win this book. Thanks for the opportunity.
