Collage in Color Review

Collage in Color Vol. 1
Collage in Color Vol. 1

This is one of those emags from Interweave – the first one about collage. As I’ve said before, I love regular magazines I can hold and drool over, but I also enjoy these that have videos embedded of some of my favorite artists and pdfs I can print and save.

Some of the articles in this issue include Torn-Paper paintings with Wanda Edwards, The Green Studio with Jill Russell, Make it Quick by Karen Michel and Art Party with Mandy Russell’s Birds on Bunting.

But there is more – a total of 19 videos, interactive slide shows, and lessons in color theory and collage tools.

This issue also has an interview – three short videos – with Alisa Burke on her 10 color tips.

I remember as a teenager making a huge collage for my bedroom wall. I sure wish I still had that! I really liked making them back then but somewhere along this life journey I’ve become  somewhat intimidated with the process. This article and the videos really inspired me. It even got me to stop the emag and make a collage. I’ve made several more since this one and really have enjoyed reconnecting to that teenager!

Fearless Julie Fei-Fan Balzer shows us how to add stamping to our collages and she does the unthinkable – she cuts up her stamps! In three videos she walks us through this. What a great way to create more stamps.

And then this tutorial on fabric collage journals by Jill Russell. Easy and too cute!!
