I really can’t believe that it’s already week 5 of the Feb/March Challenge. As for what I accomplished last week, I feel like I fell a little short.
Instead of finishing stuff, I decided I needed to organize so I could find stuff to finish! I ended up getting some new containers and adding labels. One of the best things I did was organize my stabilizers and interfacings. I moved the ones I use a lot to a smaller container that fits under my table. I usually spend a lot of time digging what I need out of the large container in the closet. Now I’ll have it closer. Here is a pic of four of the new containers in the closet.
I also ordered some more Glide thread. I really only needed one color, but couldn’t stop at one!
I’ve started working on our SAQA Indiana Collaborative project which is due on March 15. Here are the fabrics I’ll be using. I rarely use commercial fabric, but I love this text fabric I bought to dye. I won’t dye it since I think it will look great with the blues. The blue printed fabric I dyed in Pat Pauly’s class, Glorious Prints, several years ago at QSDS.Â
Saturday I took a zoom class from Judy Gelzinis Donovan on making cloth with lace and doilies. OMG! It was so much fun, and she is a great teacher. I’ll show you more about the class later this week, but here is some of my stash I dug out to use. I spent several hours last week selecting the fabric and then washing every piece, some by hand since they had been stored for quite awhile, and were kind of musty smelling.
Today makes three weeks since I had my second COVID vaccine. So to celebrate, I am going to Joann’s to pick up some supplies and just look around. As a lot of us, I’ve only been out to shop early for groceries, walk around the neighborhood, and go to doctor appointments. This afternoon, something that I didn’t appreciate before, I will go to Joann’s and just look at everything, and not be in any hurry to leave. What I’ve missed most besides seeing friends (although I do visit with my good friend and neighbor Barbara weekly), is just doing something normal like dropping by a thrift store, Tuesday Mornings or Joann’s. It’s not about shopping. It’s about feeling normal again which I know we all are looking to feel. So after lunch I’ll be on my way!!
