Over the last two years I’ve been presenting my Creating Fabulous Fabrics with Resists slideshow to SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates) regions and other artist groups around the country via zoom. I presented it live and narrated the slideshow. I decided it was time to share it with all of you with the audio recorded. I talk you through the process of the various resists I like to use.
Unlike most of my resist tutorials where I use dye, I’m using paints in this video.
Here are a few blog posts using paints with resists in case you missed them.

I hope you enjoy the video. If you have any questions, just add them here. Thanks for dropping by.

Thank you for that excellent tutorial! I’ve used freezer paper and masking tape as resists, but I haven’t tried the flour and glue or batik methods. I live your results.
How do you make your padded surface?
Sherrie, There are various ways to make them. My friend Angie has a video on different ways to make them. Here is her link:https://youtu.be/xyzEOcd2w8I?si=Ea0Hanu1qNFo0fbr. However, I ended up using some foam squares (the kind that lock together and are used for a floor), then covered with plastic and fabric, and just covering my whole table. If you are working small, you can use rubber stamping mats. Here is a link for them. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Rubber-Stamping-Mat-11X17In-8Mm-Thick-Durable-Work-Surface/35648312 I think I’ll do a post later about printing surfaces. Hope those help.
