All you need is a mixing bowl (I use the glass measuring cup), the fragrance or essential oil, cyclomethicone, a stir, and the roll-on containers. The cute containers for both the roll-on perfume and the body spray can be found at a variety of online supplies including The Sage and Wholesale Supplies Plus.

Always pour the cyclomethicone into the mixing container first and then add your fragrance or essential oil and then stir. Adding the cyclomethicone into the oil tends to make the mixture cloudy.

Add roller ball and cap. That’s all that’s to it. For information on cyclomethicone – a silicone oil, check out this blog post.

For the body spray, it’s just as easy only this time you mix cyclomethicone at 99% and fragrance or essential oil at 1%.

I’m planning on making one of these sprays for bug protection this summer.  Several suggested oils for that spray include citronella, lemon eucalyptus, lemongrass, cedarwood, patchouli, or lavender. If you’ve tried any of these oils for bug protection, I’d love to hear about your experience.
