I purchased this stamp-making foam quite a while ago on the recommendation of a friend. I pulled it out the other day to see what I could do with it.
I started out using the real thin sheet and cut some flower shapes with a Spellbinders’ die.
That was easy and fun. I could see cutting some of my other dies to increase my stamp collection.
Behind the stamp is my art journal page with both of those stamp images.
But this is really what I wanted this foam for – to press things into it. I bought this necklace years ago and really liked the pendant but never wear it. I thought it would make a great stamp.
First I needed to heat the foam up until it had a shiny look.
Now it was time to press the pendant into the foam for 15-30 seconds. And this is what I got.
Now it’s time to test drive it so I added some color with a stamp pad.

I did try embedding things into some regular foam I had around to see if it worked, but it’s not soft enough to make good impressions like the last three stamps. These stamps, of course, can also be used on fabric with paint. I’ll post in the next couple days another craft technique using the pendant stamp. Fun!!
How fun…….I do have some fun foam that I could try but I’ll have to look for this particular type.

I have 2 packages of that foam, but have never really put it to use. I think you have inspired me to do so. Definitely OOAK stamps using this foam. The pendant really made a nice stamp as did the paper clips. Wonder how money would look, pennies, dimes, etc.
Brenda, Try it! You will love this material! Never thought about money – sounds like a good idea. Also buttons. I did do one with bobbins which turned out pretty neat – forgot to include that!

Ooh – you’ve pushed me to find my stamping foam. I first bought it years ago (like you), and was having so much fun pressing it into the bottoms of crystal candy dishes, coasters and other detailed items. I remember a friend pressing into the design on her banister. So many possibilities. Thanks for reminding me to go have fun with this!
These are sme great ideas- I’m going to send a link to some teachers I know as these would make really good beginning of the year Class crafts! I would never have thought of indenting the foam to get the negative effects- Clever you!!

Lynda, I LOVE your atc backgrounds….veryyyy cool! I was going to ask if you had tried buttons with the moldable foam stamp…but I see you have…makes a great stamp. I sell the 4″ x 5″ blocks of the moldable foam…where did you get it? Locally?

It looks a lot of fun! Hope the stamping foam I bought is still good to work on. I’d really love to try and make my own stamps, too. I like the tiny spools stamp you made. Would look nice on a large sheet and use it as a gift wrapping paper.

I have some foad that my friend gave me not sure if it is the same as yours but I just tried using a couple of punches that I had and they punched OK but now I cant get them to stick on the acrylic block to stamp them, any ideas?
Chris, Maybe you can use two-sided tape to attach them to the block. Or you could glue them to a larger and thicker piece of foam or even wood.

Guinever, Yes, that foam just clung to the acrylic block until I was done with it. Then I just took it off of the block. Thanks for dropping by.

Joanne, that has been so long ago, that I don’t remember. And I can’t even check because I gave all of my dies and the machine to Goodwill at the beginning of the summer since I never use it anymore. Sorry I’m no help.
