Artistcellar, is having a HUGE 2nd anniversary giveaway. To enter you need to make something with at least one of their products. The deadline is Thursday, July 26 at 11:59 CST so you still have time. See the information HERE.
I purchased several of their stencils awhile ago and have been wanting to make something. This giveaway inspired me to use my favorite of the stencils – Reims which is one in the Cathedral Series.
Here is my finished entry.

This is the actual stencil I used. If it looks kind of wonky, it’s because I was in a hurry the other day to dry the paint and used the heat gun with the stencil still attached to the fabric! Duh! Luckily I quickly realized what I did and saved both the stencil and the project.

After stenciling with fabric paint on muslin, I backed the design with felt, stitched it, and then attached it to a canvas. I also added a little bling.

I stitched it all with white thread so as not to take away from the design. The pictures don’t really show the thread much.
Since Kathy’s screenprinting class, I’ve really gotten into the turquoise and copper. For this project I used Lumiere metallic copper which gives the piece a little shine.
The more I create, the more I seem to be willing to push myself. The hardest thing in this project was cutting out the completed design. Fear appeared. If I made a “mistake,” all of my time spent would have been wasted. But at that point yesterday I decided that whatever happened would be fine. And it was. Oh, my – what a long way I have come in this creative journey!
wooohoo! It looks great! Love the colors, very southwestern. And the bling makes it sing!
Lisa, Thanks for dropping by! Love your stencils. Lynda
So pretty! I love the turquoise and orange and white together, seems really summery to me 🙂
