More marbling madness

Well, my three-week fabric marbling class is over. It’s been fun to work with that great group of gals. The last session we focused on traditional patterns using rakes, but really they could do whatever they wanted. I’ll show you a couple of my new pieces, but before that I wanted to show you what Ronda made me from material she marbled in class. Too cute!

And here is a picture of her shoes she marbled at home. Nice!

Ronda took some pictures of me demonstrating marbling. The following two photos are from the first class session.

It was so neat seeing them watch as the paint made patterns on the water. But what was the best was when I pulled that first piece of fabric.

You are seeing the back side of the fabric. When I pulled it from the size everyone oohed and ahhed! That was so neat. I remember the first time I pulled my first piece – I was amazed. Anyway, since that first session these gals have made some lovely marbled fabric.

So for this last session I did a demo on my take on the Zebra pattern.

Teresa brought in some linen which she was kind enough to let me use a couple of pieces. Oh, my! I love how they marbled.

I also marbled on commercial white on white fabric. This fabric has flowers in the background. On this photo you can see the original fabric at the bottom. When I was marbling it I wasn’t real happy. Even though I would like the colors to be brighter,  I do like what is all going on.

Then with that same fabric I made concentric circles and then pulled out flower shapes. Unfortunately my flowers were too large for my fabric pieces, but you get the idea.

So  now I’ve got a boat load of marbled fabric. I’ve hung several pieces.

This piece is one of my favorite of the over marbled fabric. I wanted to hang it with the others, but it screamed for a blue canvas. So it hangs now in my studio where I can see it every day.

I also made some bookmarks or soon-to-be bracelets. I sure have enjoyed the hand stitching.

Well that’s all for marbling for the time being. I need to concentrate on some other art and get ready for my ice dyeing webinar coming up in less than two weeks. I hope that my marbling has encouraged you to try it. If you have just found my blog, check out my other marbled posts here.
