Happy Hump Day!
This past month I had the privilege of being a beta tester for Nikki in Stitches to test drive her new Craft Academy. In addition to checking out the website, I went through her November lessons of her first monthly class, Crafting with your Silhouette.
Even though I work mostly with fabric, making stencils with this machine, I learned so much in just that first set of videos. At the end of the month Nikki will host a live event where students make something together! Neato! If you are new to your Silhouette, plan to buy one, or just want to learn more about what this cutter can do, a subscription to this class is well worth the price. And talking about price, anyone who enrolls TODAY ONLY using the promo code CharterCWYS will get the program at over 30% off. Check it out here. This would be a great gift to accompany a new cutter. Not interested in the Silhouette? Well, Nikki will be adding other craft classes in the near future.
Yesterday I took a zentangle class at East taught by the talented Sherry Groff. I’ve done some tangling, but it was fun to be taught. I did learn some new stuff and it was great being with the art gals at the library again. I worked on two and didn’t get either done!
I posted this on Facebook awhile back and asked if anyone had ever seen this before. I also searched the Internet and found wire art but not exactly like this. Anyway, I bought this a local thrift store. I could use it as a stencil and spray through it but I hate to mess it up. Have you ever seen anything like this?
Also, when I was at the thrift store I picked up these for 25 cents. I need to play with them before Fall is over!
Talking about Fall, the colors are changing around here, but not as much as they should by this time. Our maple tree is just beginning to turn. However, the blueberry bushes are red.

The Oak Leaf Hydrangea’s leaves are turning and these lovely blooms are still hanging on!

The sun garden continues to grow. The ornamental grasses in the back are getting so big!

And even with the freeze, this rose is also hanging on!
Getting back to crafts/art, a couple years ago when I took Stupendous Stitching on Craftsy, I was having trouble with some of the hand stitches. One of the fellow students recommended this book, so I finally got around to buying it. It is a great reference book for us south paws.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve got so many projects in my head – new things I want to try. It seems like inspiration comes to me as the seasons change. Hope this hump day finds you well and excited about the upcoming season.
I hope you find out more about that oriental-metal piece. At least it looks metal from the picture. Wonder if you could burn a stencil from that image and not harm the original work?
Ronda, It is wire and so intricate. I don’t want to harm it so am giving it more thought.
Lynda!
Thank you so very much for sharing “Crafting With Your Silhouette” with your readers and for your sweet words!
PS…I’ve been itching lately to do some embroidery myself! My hand appliqué quilt (that I’ve been working for waaaaay too long!) has also been calling my name. I think you’ve given me the push to make some time for it tomorrow!
Nikki, You are so welcome! Can’t wait to see your embroidery!
