Congrats to Bev, Jaime, Mary and Mary! Thanks to everyone who entered!
I can’t believe it! Today I’ve been blogging here for 4 years. For those of you who’ve not been around here since then, Bloom, Bake & Create came into being because of another website I blogged at called Heartwriting.
Heartwriting was all about writing and I even offered online classes. However, the more I blogged, the more I wanted to write about other topics besides just getting in touch with our feelings through words. My last online class, Monthly Write 2009, was bordering on scrapbooking as I was moving into that and art journals. I started this blog to write about gardening, baking, and creating. I realized I loved blogging about those topics and eventually closed the heartwriting site. I still believe writing is important, but no longer see it as my calling.
Over the four years this blog has evolved into more of a craft/art blog although I still like to blog from time-to-time about gardening and baking. What really pushed me into the transition was my two-year writing gig for The Evansville Courier & Press where I wrote a column about local artists and crafters. You can find those columns at the top under Courier Columns. The artists I met really inspired me to spend more time creating and that’s where I am now.
Anyway, enough about history! Since I’m celebrating I wanted to you help me celebrate by taking part in my giveaway. I am going to give away 4 prizes to 4 readers who comment on this blog post. And since I love ice dyeing, all four pieces are ice dyed. The first piece is one I dyed last winter. This is a fat quarter.
The next fat quarter is one of my original ice dyed fabric.
The next two giveaways are a new project of mine, scarves made with silky bamboo and cotton jersey. They are so soft and lightweight with raw edges.
So all you have to do to enter is to comment on this blog post. This giveaway is open to everyone reading this blog. You must comment to this post on the Bloombakecreate blog to be entered in the giveaway. Commenting via email, on Google+, twitter, or Facebook will NOT enter you in this giveaway. Deadline is Saturday, November 16 at 8 am CST. Thanks for celebrating with me, and for continuing to read my adventures. Good Luck!
Lynda,
I’m a long time friend a friend of yours Madonna. I’ve just started making soap and have been researching how to make it and recipes. I love your ice dye material and will have to put this on my things to do once I retire. I love your web site. Thanks for doing it.

So, please keep enjoying yourself, taking classes and above all-sharing. Fellow soap maker here (the one thing I do make time for) – Jewell
Beautiful scarves! 🙂 Thank you for having this giveaway!
Always pleased to see your creations and read the info that you provide with such enthusiasm. Love the ice-dyed pieces and hope you continue to post with such fabulous ideas for years to come.
I am a relatively new follower of you blog, probably only a couple months but I enjoy all that you do, most of which I also have dabbled in. Your ice dyed pieces are great, I actually prefer to ice dye than snow dye, I like the sharper delineation of the colors. Happy year 4 and carry on!
I love seeing your creations, especially the dyeing since I’m also a passionate dyer. You’ve even got me thinking about making soap!

Congratulations to you Lynda! I always wondered what happened to Heartwriting. Now I know. I sure do miss your articles in the Courier. I secretly wished I could be in one! Well I’m glad you followed your heart and created Bloom Bake and Create, it’s always a great read with information that I find valuable and it makes it even better that we know one another 🙂 Your creations are wonderful and you fit quite nicely into your new title as artist.

Lynda, Congratulations! FOUR years of beautiful flowers, gardens, and so many interesting crafts. I found you through Lynn K’s blog quite awhile ago. I’ve followed her for a very long time and I know I’ll be following your blog for as long as you are willing to write it!
Lynda,
Your post is the one I read as soon as it comes into my inbox. I love your patterns and your other ephemera about ice dyeing, soap making, gardening. And your patterns are for all levels of quilting. Most of all, I love the layout of your site. Alin
Congratulations on blogging for 4 years! I love your ice-dyed fabrics. I’ve dyed fabrics before but not using that method and I think the fabrics are so interesting.
