It’s been so busy around here so I’ve not had much time to blog. One of the projects I’ve been working on is sewing this Spencer Ogg Compact Accordion Wallet.
I’ve been wanting to sew a wallet for my purse for a long time. I decided to use this happy commerical fabric for the outside. The inside is my dyed fabric. The pattern comes with pdf and a video, which I absolutely love.
And here is the inside. It includes a zipper pocket and credit card slots.
I was really happy with how it turned out, but it was a challenge. I’m sure if I decide to make another one, it will be much easier. I have another wallet pattern I purchased awhile ago that I want to sew up so I can compare. If you’re interested in this pattern, here is the link. She also has a Facebook group to ask questions and to show your finished projects.
Have you seen this magazine? I started my subscription a few months ago, and then ordered a couple back issues since they were on sale. There is lots of inspiration in these pages. I just wish the type was a bit larger. It’s hard for these older eyes to read. If you go to their website, you can see inside the magazines before you buy. Several of the back issues are still on sale as of today.
Fall is here and the garden chores are pretty much done. Before the rain and a cold front rolled in I took a picture of this new coneflower I planted last month. I can’t wait to see this beauty next year.
I’ve also been working a bit on my family tree, speaking with relatives I didn’t know I had. I also visited the cemetery where many of my ancestors are buried. Here is the tombstone of my grandparents on my dad’s side. Unfortunately, they died before I was born. If you look in the picture, the large tombstone in the upper left is my great grandparents, Theodore and Margaretha Heines. I find that I spend quite a bit of time on genealogy, and then have to take a break for awhile.
But back to my art. This past week besides sewing the wallet, I spent quite a bit of time moving my online classes to a new platform. I’m excited about this change, and looking forward to adding at least one new class before the end of the year. With this new site I’ll also have gift certificates available for anyone wanting to gift my classes in the future. More about that later. If you are not aware of my classes, here is the link to the classroom and info on my current classes.
That’s all for now. I hope you’re having a great weekend.
I LOVE your wallet! I’m thinking once I clean out my garage (and house), I need to pull out my sewing machine!
Just lovely. Can’t wait to see the other one too.
Be safe!
Dolly, Thanks! Yes, you need to get back to sewing!! Hope you are doing well and had a good sale.
That’s a cute little wallet! I hadn’t heard of that magazine, so thanks for the mention. Take care!
