Penny Sisto at 80 Exhibit

This past Monday, several friends and I took a day trip to the Carnegie Center in New Albany, Indiana to see Penny’s new exhibit celebrating her 80th birthday. I’ve seen, and blogged about, many of her shows, but this was even more special than the others.

Lesley Riley, a new artist friend, was planning on flying in just to see the show. I told her I’d love to meet her there with a couple of my friends. I’d also see if Penny would meet us at the exhibit. So plans were made, we met Lesley for lunch before we headed over to meet with Penny. What a wonderful experience!

Here are some of Penny’s art.

Here Penny is telling us about the pieces.

And the group picture. Left to right: Joy Fitzgerald, Dawn Murtaugh, Lesley Riley, me, and Barbara Stahura.

And I love this picture of Penny and me.

What a great day trip with good friends, and getting to spend a little time with Penny, who is such a wonderful spirit. Barbara, Joy and I have known Penny for many years, but it was so neat to introduce her to Lesley. Dawn had met her for the first time last summer at her exhibit in Jasper Indiana. I left so inspired and blessed.

Her show closes this Friday. If you live near New Albany Indiana, check it out before it leaves. The pictures do not to her art justice.

I’m already looking forward to the next show.
