Alabama Inspiration

I recently returned home from my girls’ getaway to Alabama with lots of inspiration. One of the fun days we drove up to Huntsville to visit the Lowe Mill Art and Entertainment Center. They have taken an old mill and made it into artist studios and exhibit areas. It’s well work the time if you live within easy driving distance.

We decided to visit because of the John Lennon exhibit. Pictures weren’t allowed of the actual photos, but here is the signage of the exhibit.

We were here on a Thursday and very few of the studios were open. However, we were able to look in their windows.

There were several exhibits going on besides the Lennon one. I was especially drawn to Leslie Wood’s work.

Love this sign about the resident cats.

Talking about cats, they also had an exhibit about them. I found the scratched cardboard so funny.

There are also a couple restaurants in the building. We enjoyed the crepes at Pofta Buna.

It was a great place to visit, but plan on all day. They are only open Thursday through Saturday, opening at 11.

We spent some time gardening while I was visiting and then playing with beads. We strung some beads on string and wire to make sun catchers, but we didn’t have time to finish them on this visit.

I was hoping to work on my beads when I returned, but we had workers in to remove our carpeting in both my studio and our bedroom. Needless to say, we had a lot of stuff to put back after they left. But it’s so good to get rid of that old carpeting and replace it with vinyl flooring. Here is a before and after of my studio. Love how clean it looks and feels! I’m hoping this will help my allergies.

Thank you to all of my new subscribers. Regarding my tutorial links, I’ve been having trouble with them for awhile, and am just now working on getting them fixed. I’m sorry if you’ve had trouble getting to the tutorials. Hopefully, this will all be cleared up this week.

That’s all for now. My sewing machines, and the fabric containers and other supplies are finally back in their spaces. I have several projects lined up, but haven’t had time to work on them. However, I continue to write on Substack. You can check me out there at this link. I hope you are staying cool. It’s sure hot here!
