Gelli Arts Printing Plate as a stamp pad

I’ve enjoyed using my Gelli Arts Printing Plate for making prints and have done quite a bit of that. You can see my posts here. However, I’ve found I use it more often as a stamp pad specifically for wood printing blocks and kitchen tools.

If you’ve ever tried to stamp with these tools, it’s often hard to get the paint or other mediums to cover. If you paint the medium on the tool, by the time you have the entire tool covered it’s too dry to make much of a mark.

Well, the Gelli Arts Printing Plate came to the rescue! I’ve been using Jacquard Color Magnet quite a bit lately and the Gelli plate has made my stamping so much easier. It can also be used with paint or resist.

To use this Gelli Arts Printing Plate as a stamp pad, add the medium to the plate. I used a sponge brush.

Next, press wood printing block onto Gelli Arts Printing Plate.

Then stamp on fabric.

You can also use other tools like this potato masher.

If you don’t play with fabric you can use the Gelli pad with your tools or even rubber stamps on paper.

Here are a couple of my fabric pieces using Color Magnet. I couldn’t have done this without my Gelli Arts Printing Plate!

If you decide to use your Gelli plate as a stamp pad, make sure your tools have no sharp edges that might damage the plate.

I really like the give the plate has so that the tool gets good coverage of the medium. It sure makes the best stamp pad!

Talking about the Jacquard Color Magnet,  I’ll be posting my tips and some of the fabric I’ve designed with it soon. I absolutely love it and it is another one of my obsessions.
