Oh my! I am in love – love with liquid watercolor, that is.

I am currently taking a wonderful class Letter Love 101 from Joanne Sharpe where she has been teaching us lettering. (You can still sign up since the class stays open forever.)
I really suck at lettering. I blame it on being left handed. Really, I just write way too fast so my writing ends up looking like a prescription from my doctor. I found this technique (writing fast and illegible) helpful for my journal writing. Anyone wanting to snoop into those pages of my deep dark secrets would have a hard time deciphering my moaning and groaning.
Well, we are suppose to be working on our lettering. I’m not the best student when it comes to following online lessons. I tend to check the videos out, work on what I want to work on, and then come back later to the other lessons. In addition to learning how to improve my lettering, she’s introduced me to some new pens. However, the liquid watercolor is my favorite new thing.
Now we are to the lessons where we are making our own pages for our journal. We’re using sprays with stencils. Well, I’ve done this quite a bit and have made my own spray with acrylic paints, inks and pan watercolors, but making sprays with these liquid watercolors was something different. Not only are they easy to make – add them to a spray bottle with water – the resulting colors are beautiful!
Here are a few of my pages.

Then I cut them up for my new journal.

Now to put the journal together with duck and washi tape. Here is the cover.

And some of the pages.

I bought my set of Liquid Water Colors from Blicks online since the local store did not carry them. They run $3 per 8 fluid oz if you buy a set of 10, but you can pay a little more and get them individually. Even with shipping they are so much more economical than other sprays. And I only used a little bit to make my sprays so I have lots left for more pages. Yeah!
Now I need to get back to lettering. That will be another post!
these are beautiful! Definitely putting the liquid watercolors on my next DB order!

Rhonda, I used Fabriano cold press 90 lb watercolor paper but I’m sure any water color paper will work.
Kim, Yes, you need to try these!!
I love your site. I’m in Joanne class also and I too suck at lettering but I am learning a lot. I’m going to order some of Blicks sprays. Thanks
Sharon, Thanks for dropping by and your kind words. I, too, am learning so much. Lynda
Oh Lynda your pages are lovely. Thanks for the tip about the Blick watercolors. I especially love the large sun stencil. It’s a lot like the logo I use on my blog. I’m partial to the sun. I am behind in the class, and I hope my finished LLoved journal is half as beautiful as yours!

Janet,
Thanks so much. I’m way behind but went ahead and made my journal so I’d have it done. Yours will be beautiful too. I look forward to seeing it. Thanks for dropping by. Lynda
Hi Lynda…This is really a good idea and I am really thankful for sharing it to us here…

Lynda- Your pages are stunning! I especially love the pale aqua color you achieved with the Blick stuff. I still have some color wash jewel sprays from stamp zia in my stash, but they are nearly finished. Now I know what to replace them with. Thanks for sharing!
PS- I had to laugh at your comment about cherry picking assignments- Guilty too!

I love the liquid watercolor idea. I use sprays a lot and find the Adirondaks too saturated.

Such beautiful pages! They look great combined together in a journal too – great job! I’ve made journals by gesso-ing pages of very old books and then collaging on them but never considered what you just did here! Very cool!
