I absolutely love fried apples. Whenever we eat out (and that’s rare) if they are on the menu, I just have to have them. Since it’s apple season, I had to make us some of these yummy fried apples.

Adapted from CopyKat
5-6 apples, sliced
1/4 cup of unsalted butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
In a skillet melt butter. Place sliced apples on the bottom of the skillet.

Spoon brown sugar on top of the apples.

Then add the salt, cinnamon and nutmeg and stir.

Cover and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes until apples are tender. And there you have it – a great dessert for any meal.

I found using a blend of apples works best. We don’t really care for Red Delicious and when I made this with just them, it took a long time for them to cook. After they were tender, the taste just wasn’t that good. So I’d recommend a couple different apples for this recipe. Also, you can definitely use more sugar or cinnamon to your taste.
Such an easy peasy recipe that’s oh, so good. But if want something a little more upscale, try my apple crisp. Love those apples!
I love this recipe thanks a lot for sharing with us I am sure my kids will love this and easy to prepare also..
I agree there’s nothing better than fried apples unless, it’s fried pears. They are quited tasty as well.
Ann, I had another one of my readers who emailed me about fried pears. I’ve never tried them. I’m not real hot on pears but maybe I’d like them fried.
I love apples prepared this way, but I usually can’t resist adding a dollop of plain creme fraiche. Sinfully delicious!
